Spider bites and partials

During the weekend I found what I thought was a mosquito bite. It itched a bit, but no worse than other bites. Then, I believe Sunday night, it started itching like hell. And it turned really red. And the skin went hard. Yesterday the redness increased and it spread over a larger area. Today it was hurting as well as itching. So I went to the school doctor. And found out that I have been bitten or stung or something by a spider! And that the sting was still in my leg! So he started poking around with a needle to get it out, and then also came to the conclusion that it is a bit infected. It is not wrapped in gauze, and I got a prescription for medication. The things I get to experience in Mexico! At home spiders never bite! Exciting! :P

And only one partial left!! Which is one essay and one exam. Then second partial is over! Finally! Seems like it's been going on forever.. Just want it to be over with!!

When the sun is shining

Went to campus today to get an assignment done, and I have to say that Malin and I were very productive! We sat down. Got the job done. And then went to Starbucks. Good job! And now I'm supposed to study for my online class from Lund, but too much exciting stuff has happened so I can't concentrate. Lina and I have booked our tickets! My wonderful amazing Lina is flying to New York to hang out with me for a week! So amazing! Get away just after partials. It's going to be freezing for me, but I could not care less at this point!

It does mean though that I have a lot of work to do this week. But the essay for Tuesday is done. So that's taken care of. And now I have one essay left for Friday, and then exam on Tuesday and on Friday. And in addition I have an essay to write for the online class. It is due on the 19th, but since I will be in New York all that week I'll get it done before :D And it will be so worth all the work this week! Because on Saturday I will see Lina!!!!!!!! Whom I haven't seen since July!!!

I could not be happier =) The sun is back, the clouds are gone, and I'm taking off in just a weeks time.
I cannot stop laughing!

No Tuxpan

No Tuxpan trip. Food poisoning hit instead. So what have I done today?
I've slept. For hours and hours and hours. Which I see as a sign of the fact that I probably needed to sleep. There's been a lot going on in my head lately. And I'm tired.

I was sitting looking around on my computer just now and stumbled upon the folder with different 'texts' that I've written. Made me realise I don't write anymore. It used to be such a huge part of my life. My way to vent without needing to tell anyone what was going on inside me. Many of them are from the fall of 2004. But those I don't read. Maybe one day I'll have the courage and strength to look at those words again. But five years might have past, but it still hurts too much. It is kind of nice though to sit and read what I've written.

Looking forward to the weekend. Laura and Kat will be back in town :)

Organising myself

With a nice day of hiking behind I am now trying to organise my life. Well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration. I'm trying to organise my life for the coming four weeks. I've made a budget. And it might be a little tight... I'll make it work. Somehow :P Big brother is joining us and he has money so I'll play the little sister card on him. And I've sent off the money to the hotel in Corozal for our first nights in Belize. I've empited my camera so it's ready for new adventures. And now, after dinner, I'm going to sort out my playlists for my iPod. And I'm going to clean my room a bit maybe (although that probably will be postponed til tomorrow). I'm going to hang up the laundry so my clothes are dry for packing tomorrow. I might start sorting out clothes that I'll bring. I want to get as much done tomorrow as possible so I can enjoy Monday with good friends. Last day in Guadalajara. Well, I'll be back, I know. But last time with these specific people in town.

There's probably so much stuff I need to do that I right now have forgotten. Oh yeah, I have to reply to my grandma's email :)

It was a very nice day.

A good day with friends soon gone

Seriously, this exchange thing is tricky. Suddenly the first semester is over and the people you've started to get used to seeing everyday suddenly will disappear off to their own countries. It's not fun at all. Today I spend the whole day with three of those people. I'm going to miss you all so much. Our lunches on campus sitting and pretending to work by our laptops. Our Wednesday's at Hippo's. Our weekend trips to beautiful places. Next semester is going to be weird.

Thank you for a really good day.
I'm going to miss you guys....

Why can't they all be here for the whole year?
It's stupid if you ask me.

Benji

Happy people with our pretty Benji.
And of course matching clothing too :P

Starting over

So, I've come to the decision to move my blogging scene from the world of Swedish to the international world of English... Hopefully I will write more here now than I have been lately. I will still try to write about 'the world as I see it' but this will also become (hopefully) somewhat of a travelblog. A record of adventures and experiences, preferably while travelling. I don't know, we'll see how it goes. I was thinking that there might be a few English-speakers out there that might want to follow our travels while in Mexico atleast, so here's you opportunity. I have travelblog, but it's in Swedish, and I will keep that one the way it is since my grandparents read it.

Anyway, this will have to do for now. I should really study because supposedly I have a Spanish exam tomorrow :P

What they could have done, but didn't

"The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was a defining moment for the history of today's generations. In response, the US and its major allies could have decided that the most important and effective way to defeat global terrorism and prevent it from becoming a torrent would be to strengthen international law and enhance the role of multilateral institutions. They could have decided it was important that no single power or group should act as judge, jury and executioner. They could have decided that global hotsports like the Israeli/Palestinian conflict which feed global terrorism should be the main priority for coordinated international efforts. They could have decided that the disjuncture between economic globalization and social justice needed more urgent attention, and they could have decided to be tough on terrorism and tough on the conditions which lead people to imagine that al-Qaida and similar groups are agents of justice in the modern world." (From Debating Globalization by David Held)

Best paragraph I've read in a very long time.

Venezuela and Pirates

Hugo Chávez managed to get through the proposal that there should be no limits to the length or number of terms that a president can sit in Venezuela. Which is frightening because it is a further step toward dictatorship in the country that is closely linked to Ecuador.

And in Sweden today the trial against Pirate Bay started, and apparently the media coverage is spread over the world. You can read about it in all Swedish papers of course (Svenska Dagbladet, Dagens Nyheter, etc) but also in The Times, The Guardian and the International Herald Tribune to mention a few places.  It will be interesting how the debate develops and I find it fascinating that some people still refer to the supporters of Pirate Bay as a "small group of people with loud voices." I wonder if they know that that small group of people includes a large majority of young people in Sweden. I've always had a very strong opinion on the subject. If it is okay to record a movie onto a VCR (like we all did before DVD's) or music on a cassette (again, like we all did) then why is it not okay to download something? I can't say that I see the difference. And I have paid for it. Through the TV license.
I will be following the trial closely.

Something new

Finally! Been thinking about this for some time now, and here it is! The world as I see it. A new, seperate blog from my personal one, where I tend to dump everything going on in my life. In Swedish. This will be something different. I hope. Since I'm keeping my old one as well it might actually work. On my other blog I have a category called "Change, improve the world." The plan is to move those entries to this blog. In other words, I will write about what I see going on in the world. Locally, nationally and probably most frequently internationally. I am an International Relations student after all. And with nationally I will focus on Sweden, all though I currently live in the UK.

So whenever I read or hear something that makes me upset, happy or just catches my mind I will write about it here. If it has something to do with what is going on in the world. Be it beauty or destruction. As a university student of international relations my interesets and topics/questions I will write about here will most probably be linked to human rights (or lack of), development, security and political questions.

So, here we go! Hopefully it will work out and I will be frequent in my postings and find something to write about.. And keep my personal life out of it...
